GMR Infra acquires 50% stake in InterGen
New Delhi, Oct 14 (UNI) With a view to expand its global footprint, GMR Infrastructure Ltd has acquired a 50 per cent stake in leading global power generation company InterGen N V for 954 million dollars.
''The transaction has been consummated under highly tense market conditions, signifying GMR Group's strength in the market place. The acquisition of a 50 per cent equity stake in InterGen is an integral part of our global strategy to be the world's leading energy and infrastructure company,'' GMR Group Chairman G M Rao said in a statement today.
InterGen has ownership interest in power plants located in the UK, the Netherlands, Mexico, Australia and the Philippines, with total net capacity of 12,766 MW.
