Chennai, Oct 14 (UNI) All the MPs from Tamil Nadu will resign enmasse if the Indian Government did not intervene to help bring ceasefire in Sri Lanka within two weeks and send relief materials to the suffering Lankan Tamils.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the All Party meeting convened by the DMK government at the State Secretariat. The meeting Chaired by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi lasted nearly four hours.

Issuing an ultimatum to the Centre, the meeting, apart from demanding Centre's intervention, wanted the Indian government to take immediate steps to bring a halt to the killing of Eelam Tamils in the more than 30-year-long ethnic conflict and restore normalcy in the Island Nation.

Another resolution urged the Centre to immediately stop arms assistance to Sri Lanka as they were only used to intensify the Genocide against the Tamils and to destroy them.

''If the Centre did not act on these demands within two weeks, all the MPs will be forced to resign'', the resolution warned.

Demanding announcement of immediate ceasefire in the strife-torn Nation, another resolution wanted the Centre to come forward to rehabilitate the Sri lankan Tamils affected by the Military attack and provide food, clothes and medicines, besides extending all humanitarian assistance to them.

The Centre should also utilise the services of NGOs like Red Cross Society to ensure that the relief materials were not diverted and reach the affected people.

Another resolution condemned the frequent killing and detention of Indian fishermen by the Lankan Navy and wanted the Centre to take steps to prevent such attacks and arrive at a permanent solution to such acts of human right violations.

Describing the coming together of all political parties for the cause of Sri Lankan Tamils as Historic, Mr Karunanidhi the resolutions passed at the meeting served as a warning to the Sri Lankan government and pressure on the Indian government to act.

He also promised his full support and cooperation towards achieving the desired objective.
