Employee commits suicide; three booked

Fatehgarh Sahib, Oct 14 (UNI) A man, accused of theft, today committed suicide and police has booked the shopowners in the case.

Jagdev Singh, a resident of Kukkar Majra, Mandi Gobindgarh allegedly committee suicide by consuming some poisonous substance.

On the statement of the deceased man's father Mohinder Singh, the Mandi Gobindgarh police has registered a case against Tittu, his father Harbhajan Bedi, residents of Mandi Gobindgarh and Lovely Bedi of Sirhind under section 306 of the IPC.

Police said that Jagdev Singh, working in a local mobile shop in Mandi Gobindgarh for last four years was forced to quit last week after the shop owners accused him of stealing Rs 23,000 from the shop.

He was rounded up by police and let off on the responsibility of some prominent citizens of the town.

According to the victim's brother, Jagdev felt humiliated and committed suicide.

No arrests have however, been made in the case so far.
