21 passengers killed, 17 injured in bus accident

Dehra Dun, Oct 14 (UNI) At least 21 people were killed and 17 injured when their bus fell into a 500-m deep trench on the Rishikesh-Chamba Rajmarg today.

According to the Disaster Mitigation and Management Centre (DMMC) officials, the accident occurred around 1015 hrs, when the bus which was en route from Rishikesh to Devprayag with at least 40 passengers, fell into the deep trench.

The injured have been pulled out of the bus and admitted to a local hospital, the officials said adding the rescue operations were on and the number of casualties could increase.
