Thousands witness Chamundeshwari car festival
Mysore, Oct 13 (UNI) Thousands of devotees today witnessed the car festival of Sri Chamundeswari, the principal deity of the Mysore city, atop the Chamundi Hills.
Special poojas were performed in the temple as part of the festival. The scion of the erstwhile Mysore royal family Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wadiyar offered poojas to the presiding deity and pulled the chariot.
District incharge minister Shobha Karandlaje offered worship on behalf of the government.
Devotees thronged the temple for the festival. As the chariot moved along, the devotees offered bananas and flowers at the chariot.
Tight security had been provided atop the Hills following the sensitive communal atmosphere.
The car festival also marked the culmination of the Dasara festivities in this famous tourist city.
