Police remand of Subhash Ahluwalia extended
Shimla, Oct 13 (UNI) A local court today extended the police remand of Subhash Ahluwalia, Principal Private Secretary to former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, till tomorrow in a disproportionate assets case.
Special Judge JL Gupta passed the order after hearing the arguments by the State Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau and the defence counsel M S Chandel who had moved the bail application on behalf of Ahluwalia.
The Bureau, which had arrested Ahluwalia on October 8 for alleged accumulation of assets beyond his known sources of income, today strongly pressed for custodial interrogation of Ahluwalia.
However, the defence counsel submitted that since the lodging of FIR, Ahluwalia had been summoned ten times by the Bureau and details of every aspect of his income and expenditure had been furnished by him.
He argued that a full-scale investigation had already been carried out and Ahluwalia had already been thoroughly interrogated in the matter, therefore no custodial interrogation, as such, was required.
The case will come up tomorrow for pronouncement of order on the bail application of Ahluwalia, who has been recently suspended from his current post of settlement officer at Dharamshala.
