Munde demands R R Patil's resignation for Dhule riots
Mumbai, Oct 13 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde today demanded resignation of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, who also holds the home portfolio, alleging him of inaction at the time of Dhule riots.
He also demanded action against the Dhule collector and superintendent of police for not acting at the time of riots there.
Speaking to mediapersons at the Party office, the BJP national General Secretary said although large-scale riots and arson was raging in Dhule city for seven hours on October 5, police failed to use force as they said the DIG would take appropriate action after he reached the riot- hit city.
Mr Munde said, ''Congress corporator Sabir Shaikh took out an unauthorised procession, which triggered the riots. But no action was taken against him.'' The BJP leader said last three months have seen bomb blasts and communal riots at various places from Malegaon to Thane and Dhule.
He said the Maratha community was seeking reservation on the grounds of economical backwardness without disturbing benefits to the OBCs, SCs and STs.
