CPI welcomes all-party meeting on Lankan Tamils issue
Chennai, Oct 13 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) today welcomed tomorrow's all party meeting convened by the DMK government in Tamil Nadu on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue and said the party would participate in it.
In a statement here, CPI State Secretary D Pandian said on behalf of the party, he and veteran leader R Nallakkannu would attend the meeting.
He said all political parties in the State should sink their differences and remain united while fighting for the cause of Lankan Tamils.
The CPI also extended its support to the bandh announced by traders on October 17 and the three-day stir from October 18 and the October 19 demonstration to be organised by the Tamil Film Industry at Rameswaram to espouse the cause of the Tamils.
The CPI welcomed the decision taken by the All India Students' Federation to boycott the classes on October 15, Mr Pandian said.
