Legal action against Vijayakanth if fails to abide by rules

Chennai, Oct 12 (UNI) The Coimbatore Police has warned of legal action against the Desiya Murpoku Dravida Kazhagam(DMDK) actor-politician and founder-president Vijayakanth if the party did not abide by the rules while taking out a rally as part of its Youth Conference here on October 18.

A release from the Inspector General of Police, West Zone, Coimbatore said the party had sought permission for taking out rallies in hundreds of vehicles, including vans and two-wheelers fitted with lamps and loud-speakers to reach the conference venue.

Since allowing hundreds of vehicles in a rally would affect traffic and cause hardship to public, several NGOs were opposing permission for such rallies.

Moreover, the Court has ordered that permission should not be given to take out rallies on National Highway.

Considering this, the police allowed them to use only one van for the rally and prevent any traffic snarls in public interest.

When police officials went to the residence of Coimbatore District Secretary Dinesh kumar to issue the order asking the party to use only one vehicle for campaign, he refused to accept it.

''Following this police had pasted the order on the doors of Mr Dinesh Kumar's residence'', the release said and added that any violation of the order would be dealt with sternly and legally.
