President to inaugurate Baljek airport on Oct 23

Shillong, Oct 11 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil will arrive here on October 22 to inaugurate the Baljek Airport in West Garo Hills district the next day.

It would be her maiden visit to Meghalaya after assuming office.

Official sources today said during her night halt at Raj Bhawan here, Ms Patil will also meet Governor RS Mooshahary and Chief Minister Donkupar Roy.

Meanwhile, the Garo student's union has called off its proposed dawn-to-dusk bandh scheduled to begin from October 13, in view of Ms Patil's Tura visit.
