BMC contract labourers to get ex-gratia of Rs 4,500

Mumbai, Oct 11 (UNI) The contract labourers of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will get ex-gratia of Rs 4,500 on Diwali. Addressing mediapersons here today, the Municipal Mazdoor Union President Sharad Rao said that for the first time in the history of BMC, the contract labourers will get the ex-gratia Rs 4,500, which is 50 per cent of the regular employee.

Mr Rao said Municipal Commissioner Dr Jairaj Phatak has agreed to pay the ex-gratia to contract labourers and teachers of the schools, getting 50 per cent grants from the corporation.

On the implementation of sixth Pay Commission, he said, talks were going on with the commissioner, and the union will meet him on October 13 to finalise it.
