TDP "U" turn on Telangana for political mileage : Congress

New Delhi, Oct 10 (UNI) The Congress today said the decision of the Telugu Desam Party to support the demand for separate Telangana state was for ''political benefit.'' ''The decision is most opportunistic,'' AICC Media Department Chairman Veerappa Moily told mediapersons.

He said the decision of the TDP would not have any political impact in Andhra Pradesh.

Saying that there was no change in the stand of the Congress that the creation of Telangana was possible only through consensus among all political parties, he said the Party was still trying to evolve consensus.

In fact, the Congress had constituted a committee to evolve the political consensus. However, the BJP, Left parties and the TDP had not so far responded.

''The people will see through the game of the TDP and will give a befitting reply,'' Mr Moily said.
