One more youth commits suicide in Kashmir, no effect of fatwa

Srinagar Oct 10 (UNI) A 19-year-old boy committed suicide in the north Kashmir district of Baramulla, official sources said today.

They said one Irshad Ahmad Dar consumed some poisonous substance in his Chandoosa house. However, he was immediately rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead.

It was not immediately known why he commited suicide, they said.

Despite a fatwa issued by the Muslim ulmas, on average of two people, particularly women and youths, are commiting or attempting to commit suicide in the Kashmir valley everyday.

The ulmas have described it as an act against the teachings of Islam.
