No transparency in giving concessions to Smart City: Chandy

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 10(UNI) Alleging lack of transparency in providing concessions to Smart City Project at Kochi, Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly Oommen Chandy today demanded a probe into the agreement executed by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government make it be made public.

Talking to reporters here, he said the probe should include steps taken and concessions provided by the previous Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government and the terms and conditions of the present CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) government.

Mr Chandy alleged that the LDF government had extended concessions to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore to the Smart City Project, as against the UDF's promise of Rs 46 crore under the IT policy of the state, which the LDF had severely criticised when they were in the opposition.

Mr Chandy suggested that the newly issued Special Economic Zone (SEZ) policy should be applicable to all SEZs and there should not be any discrimination.
