Gun smugglers remanded to judicial custody

Kochi, Oct 10 (UNI) A local court here today remanded to 14 days' judicial custody two accused, arrested at Karipur International Airport on October eight while smuggling in 59 handguns.

Customs authorities produced the accused Shakeel Ali Mohd. Salim and Rafiq Ahmed Yusuf before Judicial First-Class Magistrate II S Anil at Fort Kochi.

The court said they could move the court for bail tomorrow.

The two were arrested while coming from Germany via Dubai on an Emirates flight.

The cache included 29 pistols and 30 revolvers.

The accused couldnot given any satisfactory explanation about the consignment.
