VCK volunteers burn Rajapakse's effigy
Puducherry, Oct 9 (UNI) The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) volunteers here today burnt an effigy of Sri Lankan President Rajapakse to condemn the killing of innocent Sri Lankan Tamils in the island nation.
Led by Organising Secretary Paavanan, the VCK volunteers took out a procession from the Venkatasubbareddiyar Statue.
When the procession came to the Anna Statue, the volunteers took out the hidden effigy, doused it with petrol and set it on fire.
They stood around it preventing the police from putting out the flames, resulting in an altercation between them and the police.
Party Deputy Secretary Thirukkumaran sustained burns in the process. He was treated at the Odeansaalai Primary Health Centre.
