Torch-light parade marks end of Mysore Dasara festivities
Mysore, Oct 9 (UNI) A colourful torch- light parade, in which hundreds of army personnel, policemen and other security forces participated at Bannimantap stadium, brought the curtains down on the world famous Mysore Dasara festivities here tonight.
The parade began with Karnataka Governor Rameswar Thakur taking the guard, which was followed by march past staged by troops.
The highlight of the evening was the nearly 20 minutes laser show, which included complete history of the Mysore royal family besides development activities of the Government.
This was followed by the cultural dances, performed by various artists from across the state.
Later, acrobatics by motor- cycle-borne security personnel enthralled the audience.
Horse riding, show jumps, tent pegging show by the state mounted police were led by World Cup gold medalist and police official Mariba Shetty. The official had taken part in the parade for the twentieth time.
In the last fireworks steal the show with the night sky enlighting with bright colours.
Besides the Governor, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, District incharge Minister Shobha Karandlaje and other VVIP were among those who attended the parade.
