Modi declares war against terror
Gandhinagar, Oct 9 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today exhorted the people of the state and the country to stand firmly against terrorism.
Speaking after performing 'Shastra Puja' (weapons worship) on Dussera day here, Mr Modi, while declaring war against terrorism, said Gujarat is one of the states hit by the recent spate of terror attacks in the country.
Urging the people to interpret the festival of Dussera as Dasa-Hara meaning the victory over the ten-headed demon king Ravana, he said ''we should join hands to fight against those who along with foreign hands are aiding and abetting the militants. Today on 'Vijaya Dashmi' (Victory Day), let us fight terrorism.'' Earlier this morning, Mr Modi performed puja of traditional as well as automatic weapons, including that of his commandos.
It is customary to perform puja of weapons on this auspicious day.
