Tension in MP village over idol damage
Mandala, MP, Oct 8 (UNI) Tension prevailed at Bavaiah village in this district after an idol at a place of worship was damaged and its priest beaten and injured by some unscrupulous elements, police said today.
Angry residents staged a road blockade at National Highway 12 A and demanded arrest of culprits. A long queue of vehicles was formed on both the sides of the road due to the road blockade, which was lifted after assurance by administrative officials.
Priest Harbiba said the culprits had come from nearby Vithar village.
Deputy Superintendent of Police D P Dudhane and Mandala district panchayat Chief Executive Officer Jagdish Chandra Jatia said police force has been deployed in the village and the situation was under control.
