Nepal to help in construction of Kushaha embankment: Sharad
Patna, Oct 8(UNI) JD(U) national president Sharad Yadav today said Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda had assured his support in construction of the breached Kushaha embankment during his recent visit to India.
The former union minister told newspersons here that the Nepal government was cooperating in solving the problem and all speculations regarding growing relationships between China and Nepal were ''wrong''.
He said relation between Nepal and India is warm and keeping in mind the bilateral links, the Nepalese PM had assured all possible help in construction of the breached embankment.
Mr Yadav said the Indian government had also taken initiatives in construction of the embankment and for this it had released Rs 40 crore.
He said flood water had receded in 70 per cent of the villages and the people were returning home. He appealed to all political parties to avoid politicising flood issue as each flood victim family had been provided adequate relief.
He said the reason for the breach was being probed by a judicial committee constituted by the state government.
RJD spokesperson and national general secretary Shyam Rajak, meanwhile, asked the NDA government in Bihar to speed up construction work on the breached Kushaha embankment to prevent a similar catastrophe in the next rainy season. He said the pace of work was slow and in such a situation it would be difficult to complete the work in time.
