Laddu fetches price Rs 1.11 lakh in open auction

Vijayawada, Oct 8 (UNI) The huge 110 kg laddu, presented by the Vijayawada Hotel Owners' Association to the Sri Durga Malleswara Samivarla Devasthanam, has fetched a price of Rs 1.11 lakh in an open auction held by the association on the the temple premises today.

The laddu was bagged by temple Utsav Committee member K Vidyadar Rao for the second consecutive year, a Devasthanam official told UNI here.

The money would be handed over by the Hotel Owners' Association to the temple Executive Officer T Chandra Kumar for utilising it for the development of the temple.

The laddu was kept on display at the temple premises after offering it to the deity on October 6. The laddu was decorated with cashew nuts, pistas and made with 35 kg of ghee, 25 kg of dry fruits, sugar and resins at a cost of Rs 25,000.

Noted celluloid hero Rajendra Prasad worshiped the Goddess Durga atop the Indrakeeladri hill last evening.
