Jaiswal to visit Dhule to assess situation there
New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) Concerned over the communal clashes in Maharashtra, the Centre today sent Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal to Dhule for an on-the-spot study of the situation there.
Mr Jaiswal would meet the district officials and other leaders of various communities in an effort to reduce the tension there.
The clashes between two communities in Dhule had claimed four lives and injured 80 people.
Earlier, Home Minister Shivraj Patil had visited Maharashtra and asked the state chief Minister and other officials to take effective steps to bring the situation under control.
The issue of communal clashes in Maharashtra is also likely to figure in the National Integration Council meeting which is scheduled to meet on October 13. The meeting was originally to discuss the attacks on minorities in Orissa and Karnataka.
