ECI delegation meets political parties in Kashmir
Srinagar, Oct 8 (UNI) A three-member delegation of Election Commission of India (ECI) today met the representatives of seven National and three State recognised political parties of Jammu and Kashmir and held detailed interaction with them to seek their view points with respect to the forthcoming General Assembly Elections.
The delegation which included Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) N Gopalaswami and two Election Commissioners, N B Chawla and Dr S Y Quraishi arrived here yesterday to assess the situation before finalising the poll dates.
The Commission also called on the Governor N N Vohra and separately interacted with his advisors.
The Commission reviewed at length with Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir, B R Sharma the measures being taken for ensuring free, fair and smooth General Elections to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
The Commission also had separate meetings with Chief Secretary, S S Kapur and Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda.
Later, the delegation left for New Delhi.
