EC releases final voters list for AP

Hyderbad, Oct 8 (UNI) Chief Electoral Officer I V Subba Rao today said as per the final voters list released by the Election Commission, there are 5,75,38,301 voters in Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a press conference here, he said after the draft rolls of 5,49,65,643 voters were announced earlier, the final list was announced today with additions and deletions.

He said the EC had received 51 lakh claims and deleted over 25 lakh from the list after a detailed exercise.

He said the District Collectors and election officials had rectified the lapses noticed in the list after the release of draft rolls.

To include all the eligible candidates in the voters list, the EC had decided to open permanent centres to enrol new voters into the list and 250 E-seva Centres would be utilised for the purpose in the urban areas, he said.

As per the suggestions of various political parties, the Commission would take steps to make available the application forms at shopping malls, cinema theatres, banks, ration shops and other public places and the claims could be put in 'drop boxes.' Application forms would also be available at all the 16,000 Post Office in the state, he said and added that the EC would take necessary steps within one month to add or delete names after examining the applications.
