NTPC pays dividend cheque of Rs 2,885.92 crore to Shinde
New Delhi, Oct 7 (UNI) NTPC Limited paid a total dividend of Rs 2,885.92 crore for the financial year 2007-08 amounting to 35 per cent of its paid up capital.
This is the highest ever dividend declared by the company. The shareholders of the company approved a final dividend of 8 per cent amounting Rs 659.63 crore at the 32nd Annual General Meeting of the company held on September 17, 2008.
A cheque for Rs 590.37 crore was presented by Mr R S Sharma, CMD, NTPC to Minister of Power Sushilkumar Shinde, being share of the Government towards final dividend for the FY 2007-08 in New Delhi.
Mr Anil Razdan, Secretary Power, and senior officials of Ministry of Power&NTPC were also present on the occasion.
The company had earlier paid an Interim dividend of Rs 1,992.50 crore in February 2008. Thus, NTPC has made a total dividend payment of Rs 2,582.87 crore to government for the FY 2007-08 as against Rs 2,361.48 crore in the last FY 2006-07.
This is the 15th consecutive year that NTPC has paid dividend.
