Court asks complainant to send fresh notice to Mallika
Mumbai, Oct 7 (UNI) A local court today directed a social activist to send a fresh notice to Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat, asking her to remain present in the court on November 11, in connection with an obscenity case that he has filed against her.
Despite a notice was sent to her by complainant Vinod Jain, Sherawat failed to remain present in the court today.
While adjourning the matter till November 11, Additional Sessions Judge S T Mahajan directed Mr Jain to send a fresh notice, stating that the court wants to watch CD of her performance before passing any order on the revision application filed by Mr Jain.
Mr Jain has objected to a dance performance by Sherawat in a suburban five star hotel on December 31, 2006. In the complaint, he stated that he was particularly offended by Sherawat's skin-toned dress worn during the performance.
Sherawat's performance was meant for the patrons at the hotel, but it was telecast by television channels, he stated and added that after watching the performance on TV set at home, he rushed to Santa Cruz police station and lodged the first information report (FIR).
Jain had also filed a similar complaint against actress-turned- director Pooja Bhatt, alleging that the posters of her film 'Rog' were obscene. The movie's posters depicted a scantily-clad woman.
