39 people chargesheeted by SBIEO
Bhopal, Oct 7 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh's State Bureau of Investigation for Economic Offence (SBIEO) today filed a chargesheet before a special court in Jabalpur against 39 people, including officials of the State Forest Development Corporation (Katni), in connection with alleged financial bungling to the tune of Rs 99.35 lakh.
According to SBIEO sources, chargesheet had been filed against Vijay Narayan Pyasi, then Division Manager of the Kundam Project Division in Katni, N S Rai, former Senior Accountant and in charge Assistant Manager (Accounts) and Vijay Kumar Dubey, then Revenue Accountant besides more than 25 proprietors of firms for alleged financial irregularities in purchase of timber and bamboos during auctions between April-September 2003.
The Bureau had registered a case against the accused on June 29, 2006, under sections 13(1)(d) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and sections 120(b), 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC.
As per the complaint, the proprietors of firms reportedly bought timber and bamboos during auctions but deposited the payment through fake cheque after colluding with the officials.
Later, they also got the commodities transported after obtaining permission certificate from the Transport Department.
The irregularity allegedly caused a financial loss of Rs 99,34,180 to the state government.
