War Machines displayed during Dasara festivities

Mysore, Oct 6(UNI) Display of War planes, guns, tanks, rocket launchers and other war machines added colour to the on going Dasara Festivities in the city of Palaces.

This was for the first time these would be included in the 'Jamboo Savari' (Dasara Procession) scheduled for October Nine.

Tejas, Light Combat Aircraft, designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency, Bangalore and manufactured by HAL would also be a part of the procession.

Dasara Tableaux Committee Chairman G Madhushdan told newsmen that in all 42 Tableaux would participate in the procession.

Meanwhile, the famed T-72 army tank which played a steller role in the Kargil war arrived here and it would be on display till October 15 at the Dasara Exhibition Ground.

The district administration has began giving final touches for the grand finale. Fifty year old Balarama, which carries the golden howdah elephant took centre stage in Mysore Palace premises where rehearsal of jumbo savari was held .

Meanwhile, the last scion of Mysore Royal family Srikantadatta Narasimhraja Wodiyar performed the Saraswathi Puja in a traditional manner inside the Palace. The pujas were also performed in the various temples of department of Muzrai and Religious Endowments in the Mysore Palace premises besides special pooja to Chamundeswari temple atop of the Chamundi hills.
