Ten companies of BSF deployed in Assam's riot hit areas
Shillong, Oct 6 (UNI) Ten companies of BSF were being deployed in riot hit districts of Assam as fighting between two groups continued since Friday leaving scores of people dead.
'' We have sent ten companies of BSF from Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland to the strifetorn, districts of Assam to assist the civil authorities,'' Inspector General of BSF, PK Mishra told UNI here.
More than 50,000 people have been forced to flee their homes, while 35 people have died as a result of the violence that broke out on Friday in Udalguri district of Assam. The clashes also spread to Sonitpur, Darrang, Chirang and Kokrajhar districts of Assam.
''The BSF troops will be stationed in the affected areas till normalcy returns,'' Mr Mishra said.
