Sensex falls 700 points; Nifty below 3,600 lvl

Mumbai, Oct 6: At 3:30 pm, Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensex was down 711.20 points or 5.68 per cent at an intra-day low of 11,815.12 on Monday, Oct 6.

National Stock Exchange's Nifty breached crucial technical support of 3,600 but managed to crawl back at 3,607, down 210.75 points or 5.52 per cent. The index touched a low of 3,597 in trade so far. All the 30 components of the Sensex are in the red with index heavyweights like Reliance Industries, Infosys, Tata Steel and L&T are among the major laggards.

Reliance Communications has tumbled over 9 pc to Rs 303, and Tata Steel has crashed 8.5 pc to Rs 360. BHEL has dropped 7 pc to Rs 1,458. TCS and Infosys have slipped over 6 pc each to Rs 616 and Rs 1,305, respectively. Satyam has declined 5.5 pc to Rs 297. Ranbaxy and ICICI Bank are down 5 pc each at Rs 251 and Rs 480, respectively.
