Programme notified for Nagar Panchayat by-election
Shimla, Oct 6 (UNI) State Election Commissioner Rajendra Bhattacharya, said here today that the Commission has notified the election programme for the conduct of by-election to fill up the vacant seats in some wards of Nagar Panchayat Jubbal, Sunni and Gagret.
She said that nomination papers could be filed from October 15 to 17 before the officer appointed by the Returning Officer (Deputy Commissioner).
Nomination papers would be scrutinised on October 18, and candidature could be withdrawn on October 20 and the list of contesting candidates would be announced the same.
MS Bhattacharya further said that polling, if necessary, would be held on November 5 and counting of votes would take place immediately after the polling at Headquarter of Nagar Panchayat concerned.
She said that result would be declared on November 5, immediately after the counting and election process shall be completed by November 7.
