Pondy: PMK demands pay parity for govt employees
Puducherry, Oct 6: On Monday, Oct 6 PMK Parliamentary party leader and state secretary Prof M Ramadass urged the administration to take immediate steps to prevent any anomalies in the salary structure among government employees working in Puducherry town limits and rural areas, in the wake of Puducherry town being granted B2 status.
In a statement here, Prof Ramadass said with the granting of B2 status, the house rent allowance of the employees within the town limits would go up, resulting in anomalies in the salary. Following this, all employees would prefer to work in Puducherry town, which would create a probelm, he added.
In order to tide over the situation, the Puducherry administration should provide extra allowance amounting to five per cent of the salary of those working in rural areas as well as in Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam regions, he added.
