Pandit M R Gautam bags 'Rajya Sangeetha Vidwan' Award

Mysore, Oct 6(UNI) Renowned Hindustani vocalist Pundit M R Gautam has been selected for this year's prestigious 'Rajya Sangeetha Vidwan' award by the Karnataka Government.

The Award, carrying Rs One lakh cash and citation, would be presented on October Eight in front of famous Mysore Palace by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.

Pundit Gautam is a disciple of Pundit Rama Rao. Dr Gautam, a Ph.D degree holder in music has not only served as head of the department of music at Banaras Hindu University but also as a Vice Chancellor of Indira Kala Sangeetha University at Khyragarh.

He has also won State Sangeetha Nrutya Academy award.
