Frequent strike and curfew unfortunate: CPI-M
Srinagar, Oct 6 (UNI) Describing the frequent strikes by separatists and imposition of curfew by the authorities as unfortunate, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) urged the administration to provide essential commodities to the affected people.
In a statement issued here this afternoon, the State Secretary of CPI (M) Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami described the frequent strikes by the separatists and clamping of curfew by the administration very unfortunate.
He urged the state administration to ensure that the common people in Kashmir do not suffer during the continued curfew for want of essential commodities and health care.
Mr Tarigami said the government should deal with the problem politically and try to engage the separatist groups in dialogue to resolve the issue.
The Coordination Committee (CC), spearheading the present agitation in Kashmir, should come forward and put forth its views on the dialogue table, the left leader suggested.
They should realise that frequent strikes and consequent curfew restrictions brought a lot of miseries to the common people.
He expressed deep concern over the problems faced by the fruit growers and the student community.
Mr Tarigami said due to curfew restrictions the fruit growers and the merchants in the valley were not able to harvest and transport the fruit while the closure of educational institutions was spoiling the career of the students.
He requested the administration and the political parties, including the CC, to deal with the present crisis politically and shun the path of confrontation so that economic, educational and other day to day activities do not suffer.
Mr Tarigami also sympathised with the daily wage earners, who are the immediate sufferers of the present turmoil.
He demanded lifting of the curfew so that people could resume their daily acitivities.
