Curfew continues in Kashmir valley for second day

Srinagar, Oct 6 : Curfew continues in Kashmir valley for the second day on Monday.

Curfew was clamped all over the valley on Sunday to thwart a planned march by separatists to Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Monday.

Administration has made elaborate security arrangements particularly in and around Lal Chowk area. Barricades have been erected on the roads leading to Lal Chowk and heavy deployment of security forces has been made to ensure peace.

Principal Secretary Home Anil Goswami has sought people's cooperation to maintain peace. He said if the situation remains normal, the curfew would be lifted soon.

People have been advised to seek help from main police control room and other respective police stations in case of emergency.

A number of separatist leaders, including the Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leader Yaseen Malik, were put under preventive custody. Hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani was shifted to a hospital after he complained of chest pain.
