Land policy to be set up in Kerala: Minister
Kannur, Oct 5 (UNI) A policy on land would be setup in Kerala and the Kerala Land Conservancy Act would be amended, said K P Rajendran, State Revenue Minister, while presiding over the state-level programme of land distribution function.
Mr Rajendran said, debate on land policies would start in Assembly from November. The land occupied by Tata and Harrison companies would be distributed to poor plantation workers.
The government would distribute the lands seized from encroachers to eligible families from next month. 5699 families so far received 'title deeds', including SC/ST families, he added.
The Minister said the Government had taken steps to get the pending cases disposed off quickly.
The Government had cleared encroachments of 12800 acre and 6000 acre of land were in the process of acquisition, he added.
