5 killed, 2 injured in road accident in Thane
Thane, Oct 5: Five people were killed and two others seriously injured in a pile-up, involving three vehicles, on the Mumbai-Agra Highway in Shahapur taluka of the district.
According to police, the incident occurred when a speeding tanker, on its way to Nashik from Mumbai, collided with a tempo, which in turn hit an oncoming car, near Village Kalamb on Saturday, Oct 4
The deceased include the driver of the car Sunil (32), Ramesh Ramaswamy Patel (48), his wife Anupama (38), their son Suraj (17) and an unidentified passenger of the tempo.
The two injured have been admitted to a local hospital, police said.
The driver of the tempo fled from the scene, police added.
