Weatherman predicts rain for Tripura during Durga Puja
Agartala, Oct 4 (UNI) The Met office has predicted a dampener during Durga Puja in Tripura this year by forecasting light to moderate rain during the five-day festival starting from tomorrow, heralding the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from the Northeastern states.
According to the weather report, light to moderate rainfall is expected during Durga Puja with a forecast of heavy rainfall in Dhalai district of Tripura.
''The spatial distribution of seasonal monsoon rainfall this year was largely uniform in all 30 meteorological subdivisions,'' Met officials said.
However, four northeastern states - Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram - besides West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Kerala, have recorded deficient rainfall this year while Punjab and Orissa recorded excess rain.
The report said the fourth system of deep depression had formed over Bay of Bengal, which might cause rain in a few states of the region, including Tripura, and trigger heavy rainfall over Orissa and Chhattisgarh.
