Six families evacuated after cracks appear around houses
Shimla, Oct 4 (UNI) As many as six families were evacuated from Chuahabag village of Rampur subdivision when 100-meter long cracks appeared around the village today.
According to Sub Divisional Magistrate Gopal Chand, six families were evacuated from the village when big fissures appeared around their houses.
The SDM said that the strata under the village were sliding down slowly causing cracks around the village.
However, Gram Panchayat Pradhan, Vishaswer Lal alleged that the cracks developed due to blasting and construction work going on in the village.
Similar incident had occurred at Lahasa village near Rampur recently, in which 54 houses were collapsed and about 30 families were rendered homeless.
Meanwhile the SDM, who visited the spot distributed Rs 5000 each as immediate relief to the affected families.
