Hoshiarpur, Oct 4 (UNI) Hosts Punjab and Mizoram will meet in the final of the 31st Sub-Junior National Football Championship-2008 for Mir Iqbal Hussain Trophy in Mahilpur on October 6.
In the semi-finals played today at the Principal Harbhajan Stadium here, hosts Punjab eked out a hard-fought 1-0 verdict over Goa.
Despite dominating throughout the match, Punjab failed to utilise all chances which came their way and they had to remain satisfied with a narrow victory on way to the final.
Local hot contenders Punjab dominated the proceedings. They had dozen of chances to score but their forwards looked in a hurry as they misfired their shots.
After a barren first session, Punjab, however managed to score a goal. In the 46th minute Sarbjit pounced on a rebound off the Goa goalkeeper and shot into the goal which turned out to be the winner.
Punjab had many chances thereafter, but their strikers shot aimlessly.

The Assemese opened the account through Hitler in the 7th minute. This however really fired up the Mizoram team who restored parity in the 17th minute through Lalnunmawia .
Lalnunmawia again scored in the 64th minute to steer his team into the finals.
