Govt speeds up relief distribution in flood-hit areas
Patna, Oct 4 (UNI) In order to provide a better relief package to the flood-hit pople of North Bihar, the government has accelerated the relief distribution programmes in every panchayat area.
Official sources here today said the list of affected families had been prepared in each and every flood hit panchayat of the district and relief material was being distributed accordingly.
According to the sources, 2,09,929 quintal food grains, 55,078 kits and Rs 5,673.57 lakh had so far been distributed among the affected families.
The sources said the families, who had taken shelter in the relief camps, had been given utensils worth Rs 250 in addition to the other relief material.
The sources informed that 1,448 boats along with 83 motorboats were still operating in the flood hit areas where five columns of the Army and 399 personnel of NDRF were assisting in the relief work.
Nearly 3,82,946 people were staying in 285 relief camps and 215 health camps which would continue for the next few months.
