Food Security Park to come up in Ludhiana
Jalandhar, Oct 4 (UNI) A Food Security Park will be setup at Ludhiana for which a sum of Rs five crore has been given to the Punjab government by the Union government.
Disclosing this here today, Industries Minister Manoranjan Kalia said that in addition to this project, the Centre had chosen Jalandhar for setting up a Food Street. The city is amongst the 50 odd places chosen for setting up Food Streets, Mr Kalia added.
Referring to the new industrial policy, Mr Kalia said that United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), a nodal agency hired by the state government had submitted its report to the government. The final draft of the upcoming Industrial Policy was being finalised by the state government and it would be implemented in January next year, he added.
UNIDO in its report had laid thrust on IT and agro-based industries, he said while pointing out that Mohali was already being developed as an IT hub. The Minister said that entrepreneurs are showing a keen interest in Punjab because of the prevailing peaceful industrial climate.
