Copper heavy, brass cuttings up

Mumbai, Oct 4 (UNI) In the ferrous metals category, copper heavy and brass cuttings today rose by Rs 100 per quintal each on brisk buying support by stockists, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange (BME) said.

After gaining by Rs 100, copper heavy and brass cuttings finished at Rs 34,500 and Rs 25,700 per quintal respectively.

Rest of the metals including copper utensils, brass utensils and aluminium utensils remained unchanged on moderate demand by stockists.

In non-ferrous metals, copper wire bars increased by Rs 100 on renewed demand by bulk consumers.

Similarly, lead ingot hiked by Rs 200 per quintal and nickel cathode also edged up by Rs 10 per kg on better buying support from stockists.

However, tin slab fell by Rs 15 to end at Rs 1,045 per kg on lack of demand.

No change was seen in Aluminium ingot and zinc slab, traders added.

Following were the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 34,500, copper utensils - Rs 33,100, brass utensils - Rs 24,700, brass cuttings - Rs 25,700 and aluminium utensils - Rs 10,700.

Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 37,600, aluminium ingots - Rs 13,200, zinc slab - Rs 10,000, lead ingots - Rs 10,500, tin slab - Rs 1,045 per kg and nickel cathode - Rs 895 per kg.
