Cases against govt officials, FPS owners in fake ration card case

New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) The CBI today registered six cases against six Fair Price Shop owners, four Food and Supply Officers, two Inspectors of Food and Civil Supplies Department of the Delhi Government, among others.

The cases were registered under sections 120-B of IPC r/w 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and 420, 468&471 of the IPC, said the CBI.

Cases were registered after it was found that certain officers of Department of Food and Civil Supplies here had issued several thousands of ration cards in connivance with various Fair Price Shop owners.

These bogus ration cards were either issued in the name of fictitious persons or more than one ration card had been issued against the name and address of an existing beneficiary.
