BJP to cooperate in rehabilitation of flood victims
Patna, Oct 3 (UNI) The BJP today assured its full support to the Bihar government in flood relief and rehabilitation work.
Accompanied by general secretary of party's Goa unit Govind V.Prabhatkar, state unit president of the party Rajnath Singh told newspersons here that in addition to the relief work the BJP would extend full cooperation to the Nitish Kumar government.
Mr Prabhatkar, who arrived here with relief materials, said the Goa unit would extend its support in the rehabilitation work. He also assured to fulfil requirements in relief camps operating in North Bihar.
Mr Prabhatkar said the party was moved at the plight of flood victims and in order to assist them the Goa unit had come with the first instalment of relief materials.The party would try to dispatch soon the second instalment,he said.
Lauding the efforts of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in providing relief and taking up rehabilitation work, Mr Prabhatkar said it was the responsibility of all political parties to stand unitedly in this hour of crisis.
Mr Singh said almost all state units of the BJP helped and commended the Maharashtra unit for deciding to send Rs 1.25 crore to the CM's relief fund.It had already donated Rs 67 lakhs in the relief fund, he informed.
Appreciating the efforts of the Gujarat unit, Mr Singh said the party dispatched 45 bogies of relief materials. Similar gesture was maintained by the Delhi unit.
Outlining the programmes of the party dignitaries, Mr Singh said BJP national president Rajnath Singh would visit relief camps in flood-hit districts of Purnia, Saharsa, Supaul and Madhepura on October 7.
The party would also donate in relief work the fund being collected for felicitation of senior party leader Kailashpati Mishra on the occasion of his birth anniversary on Octover 5.
He informed that in order to decide the future strategy, the two day meeting of the state working committee commencing from October 18, would be held at Chapra.
