TTD nets 2 cr collection on opening day of Brahmotsavam
Tirumala, Oct 2 (UNI) About Rs two crore donated by pilgrims was collected on the first day of the nine-day Sri Vari annual Brhamotsavams which commenced here yesterday.
According to TTD release here today, Rs 10.81 lakh was collected through selling of laddus, Rs 9.98 lakh through Arjitham and Rs 4.20 lakh in the form of rental for all rooms and cottages.
As many as 53,623 devotees, including 39,894 free darshan holders offered prayers to the presiding deity upto midnight, the release added.
Meanwhile, to propagate bhakti among pilgrims visiting the temple, round-the-clock Harinama Sankeertana has been organised in which devotional singers would render bhajans and keertans as part of Akhanada Harinama Sankeertans which started in July last year.
