Tripura guv meets blast victims, govt announces Rs 5,000 exgratia

Agartala, Oct 2 (UNI) Tripura Governor D N Sahaya today visited the Agartala Government Medical College and G B P Hospital where yesterday's serial blasts victims were undergoing treatment and spoke to the injured people and their family members.

He enquired about the treatment of the injured people and told the doctors to make all-out efforts for their early recovery, official sources here said, adding that he expressed concern over the incident.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, meanwhile, spoke to Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar over telephone this morning and assured to extend all support to manage the situation.

The state government has announced to provide Rs 5,000 compensation to all the injured and free treatment in the hospitals and also announced to compensate the victims who had lost property in yesterday's blasts after the administrative enquiry.

A five-member special team of National Security Guards (NSG) from Delhi reached here this morning along with forensic experts from Kolkata to investigate the incident and review the post-operative action plan.

Immediately after reaching Agartala, NSG officials visited three blast sites - Maharajganj Bazar, Gobinda Ballav Bazar and Radhanagar bus stand - along with forensic experts, the sources added.

They also held meeting with the state police and intelligence officials.
