2 killed, 3 hurt as auto hits lorry, mob pelts stones

Pudukkottai,Tamil Nadu, Oct 2 (UNI) Two persons, including a six-year old boy, were killed and three women injured when an autorickshaw in which they were travelling collided head on with a tipper lorry at L N Puram Villakku Road junction, near Arantangi, in this district yesterday.

Police said, the deceased were identified as auto driver Veerapandiyan (43) and Naveen kumar (6).

The injured were admitted to Government Hospital at Arantangi from where one of the injured was referred to Government Headquarters Hospital here,police said.

Police are looking for the tipper lorry driver who was said to be at large.

Meanwhile, a mob damaged window pane of a private hospital in Arantangi by pelting stones for refusing to provide first aid to the injured. It also resorted to road roko which caused tension in the area for some time.

On the information, police rushed to the spot and defused the situation.
