SRI method covered in 400 hectares in Karur district
Karur, Oct 1 (UNI) About 400 hectares were brought under the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method in Karur district, According to District Collector T N Venkatesh.
In a relase here today, he said normally paddy would be raised in about 17,600 hectares in the district.
Farm operations have commenced and they were in various stages of completion in 5,500 hectares, he said adding several field demonstrations and hands-on training workshops were conducted for farmers to explain the benefits of SRI method.
Stating that SRI was a pioneering method that would give good yield, the Collector appealed to the farmers to adopt it for paddy cultivation.
