New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) Condoling the death of 150 pilgrims in a stampede at the Chamunda Mata temple in Jodhpur yesterday, the Congress Party today said administration of places of worship should upgrade infrastructure to meet the increasing number of pilgrims.

"The Congress Party and its president Sonia Gandhi express shock and grief at the death of a large number of devotees in Jodhpur in Rajasthan," AICC Spokesman Shakeel Ahmed told mediapersons here.

Pointing out that there had been two such indicents recently, he said, "When the number of pilgrims increases, the administration should provide for proper infrastructure to avoid such tragedies." The Congress also condoled the death of 'Headlines Today," correspondent Soumya Viswanathan, who was shot dead in her car while she was returning home early yesterday after her office duty.

Dr Ahmed expressed the hope that the investigating agencies would expedite the investigation into the 'serious crime' and bring the culprits before the law as early as possible.
